PRODUCT SAFETY NOTICE
Do you own an Islabike that is subject to a product safety notice?
We issued a recall notice for the Beinn 24, 26, 27 and Creig 20 purchased between 5th October 2019 and 16th May 2022.
This issue is safety critical. The forks on your child’s bike may fail suddenly, with the potential to cause serious injury or death to the rider.
We received one report of the lower part of the fork separating from the bike on a Beinn 26. This meant that when the bicycle was lifted off the ground, the fork dropped out. Fortunately no-one was injured.
It is important that we replace all affected forks urgently. Please contact us and we will organise this repair (free of charge).
We have successfully replaced forks on 5765 out of 7676 bikes but, despite our efforts, we haven’t had responses from every owner. We are aware that after this elapsed time not every bike is with the original owner. There is a vibrant second-hand market for Islabikes, and new owners need to be sure the bike they have is safe.
How do I know if my bike is affected?
Every Islabike has a unique frame number stamped into the bottom bracket shell. Affected bikes have frame numbers in the following ranges:
Beinn 24 in matt teal, matt charcoal, matt orange and gloss orange.
Beinn 26 and Beinn 27 in matt teal, matt charcoal and matt orange.
Frame numbers:
AA90502551 to AA9121841
AA00129855 to AA10555391.
Creig 20 in matt dark teal and matt charcoal.
Frame numbers:
AA90600696 to AA90600765
AA01072634 to AA01072737.
We have been working hard to get all customers bikes made safe.
Initially we provided a temporary repair by supplying longer crown bolts to every customer who responded, but it is important that all bikes receive a permanent repair by having the forks replaced for one with a new design that resolves the issue detailed above.
How to identify whether your bike has been repaired or not
Not Repaired
The faulty forks have a “dot pattern” decal on the upper part of the fork legs
Repaired
Repaired bikes have a “banded pattern” decal on the upper part of the fork legs.
If you think you have an affected bike

- Your address.
- Mobile phone number.
- Photo of the whole of your bike from the side with the chain.
- The frame number of the bike (it is stamped to the underside of the bike), sometimes it is a little difficult to read, so please send a couple of photos that show all the digits.
